Can it be too windy to play golf?

Winds in excess of 30 mph and gusts up to 50 mph. Probably a high temp of about 55. Would this stop you from playing golf? Or is this how links golf should be played? If you ask any of us here at Ballyneal there is absolutely no question. Today would be one of the days where a flat out topped shot would work better than any ball hit over head high when going into the wind.
